In the past five months Marg and I talked frequently and in great depth. I learned a great deal about her feelings at various times and places. She was much kinder than I. She suffered many indignities in her life, yet she remained compassionate. She was brilliant but not sharp edged. She stood her ground without rancor. We loved each other and I will miss her. I will always admire her courage in the face of adversity . When I spoke with her a week before her death, I can assure anyone who knew and cared about her that she was very much at peace. I am so grateful to Margaret+ for making my children feel welcome at St. Mark’s during their young adult years. We were choristers together and shared the excitement of my kids’ first trip overseas to the UK in 2008. Marg had a gift for listening to young people and made them feel respected. She instructed my son Cameron in the “ways of the thurifer”. She often had a good personal story as a lead-in for her sermons, and even if the kids drifted away partway through, the story would stick, and the relevance to the scripture could be addressed later. She knew how to light a safe fire for the Easter Vigil and she could sing the Exultet with confidence. Rest well, faithful servant. May you be welcomed into the heavenly chorus where pain and suffering are no more.
Marg was a wonderful Minister, and very concerned and helpful throughout her presence in St. Timothy's, St. Mark's and St. John's. She loved her garden and gave me some of her treasured Impatien plants last year. I over-wintered them and have them planted. They are beautiful and I will always remember Marg when I tend to them. She was a gardener of souls and the Earth.
Gwen Duck and I served for 4 years as wardens during Marg’s 13 year discipleship of St Mark’s, Port Hope. It was during that time that, with both internal and external gifts, we undertook to expand and renovate the existing parish hall. With Stephen Fisher as contractor and Reno Piccini as architect, Marg led us every inch of the way to turn the “plug ugly” venue into a parish hall of which to be proud. She and we were determined that the new facility served both us and the wider community. It does to this day. Thank you, Marg, for your rich support, dedication and patience in this enterprise. You are already deeply missed. May you rest in the eternal peace of Christ and rise in glory.

I first met Margaret when my family and I moved to Norwood in 1988. Margaret and her husband, Ken, at that time came to our home to welcome the new Presbyterian minister to the community. Over the years after, we visited back and forth with the Tandy children staying in our home on numerous occasions while Ken and Margaret were away on church or family business. My wife and I enjoyed many cups of coffee or tea with both of them in our kitchen over their years in Norwood. It was sad when they eventually left Norwood to live elsewhere. We will always treasure those precious times we had together. Our prayers and sympathy go out to Margaret’s family at this time. I didn't know Marg well but she was a lovely person and very close to my friend Anne Oram. Vicariously shared their adventures both travelling and camping. I know she will be missed by her family and many friends.
As one of Margaret's cousins, I received the news of her passing with great sadness. I have many memories of Margaret but two stand out the most. The first is of when she taught me how to ride a bicycle one Easter weekend when I was 11 or 12 years old in the school grounds across the road from her parent's home in Willowdale. Little did I know at the time that there was a new bicycle waiting for me at home. The second, and less pleasant, was the tutoring she provided to me in order to pass my Grade 13 French. Somehow I did!
I have spent most of my adult life living outside of Canada and the last time I saw Margaret was in September 2013 when the four daughters, from three of the four Wildey daughters, spent an afternoon together at my sister's house, sharing laughter and memories from childhood to life as seniors. Our thoughts are with Margaret's family and close friends during this difficult time.
