Joan passed away peacefully and surrounded by so much love in Port Hope on Tuesday, April 8th, 2025, in her 93rd year. Loving wife of the late Harold MacDonald, and adored Mom of David (Wanda), Dean (Deb), Sue Throop (Andy), Doug (Victoria), Scott (Laura), and the late Sandra. Proud Gramma to Jenn, Jason, Jessica, Kate, Richele, David, Jake, Brett, Casandra, Alex, Emily, Conrad, and Cohen. Equally Proud Great Gramma to Layne, Taylor, Velouria, Ethan, Ryleigh, Zaiden, Jack, Myla, Nick, Grayson, Madison, Elena, Maxwell, Sawyer, and Evelyn, and great great grandson Asher. Dear sister to Dianne Cushing and the late Lynne Wonnacott, and sister-in-law to Linda (Woody), June (Leonard), and the late siblings-in-law Lorne (Marina), Helen (Floyd), and Marilyn (John).

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude towards Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice and Regency Long Term Care Home for their amazing care and utmost respect. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made by cheque in Joan’s memory to Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice.

A service will be held for Joan on Wednesday, April 16th, 2025, at Allison Funeral Home (103 Mill Street North). Friends and family are invited to visitation from 1pm until the time of service at 2pm, followed by a reception at Allison Funeral Home. Following cremation, her ashes will be interred alongside her husband and their daughter.
