Gerald Albert "Jerry" Shirk Obituary

February 20,1944 - April 20, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce that our dad has passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a valiant battle with leukemia at the age of 81. He is survived by his children, David and Joanne and his grandson, Tyler. He was born on February 20, 1944 to Henry and Ethel Shirk. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Barbara Jean Shirk, sister Shirley and brother Carman Shirk. He was the brother of Doug (Goldie) Shirk, Jim (Willie) Shirk, Wayne (Pat) Johnson and Don (Rose) Ellis.

Jerry was a colourful character who could strike up a conversation with anybody in any place. He was never at a loss for words and made friends everywhere he went. After working for Goodyear for over 40 years, he enjoyed his retirement golfing, boating and going out for coffee with the boys.

He was a loyal husband, father and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

We wish to thank the staff at Princess Margaret and all the other doctors, nurses and caretakers who were there to help him along the way.

At Jerry’s request no service will be held. Memorial donations can be made to Princess Margaret Hospital.
