Macklin, Zeita Helena (nee Bongard)

On May 10, 2025, in her 91st year and with her children by her side, Zeita was reunited with her loving and devoted husband in heaven after peacefully being called home by her Lord and Savior.

Zeita was born in Prince Edward County to the late Dorland and Cora Bongard (nee Graham). She married George Austin Macklin in 1955, was a faithful and dutiful wife and mother to five children. She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by Kenneth (Donna), Beverley (John Golding), Linda (Steven Charles), Bonnie (Lee Brown) and Dennis (Nancy). 10 grandchildren came to bless her life, and she will be fondly missed by Beth, Stephanie, Jennie, Abby, Josh, Holli, Hannah, Scott, Alexis and Trevor, and 9 great grandchildren: Kayden, Sophie, Luke, Ellie, Theodore, Monte, Stevie, Noah and Olivia. Zeita was predeceased by an older brother, Robert Bongard, and an older sister, Thelma June Atkinson-Caswell.  

Zeita was happiest when spending time with her family.  She enjoyed playing her piano, working puzzles, and was actively involved in her church, attending services and Ladies Bible Study Groups. 

Visitation with the family will be at Grace Missionary Church, 2 Centennial Dr. in Port Hope, Ontario at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 14, with a funeral service immediately following at 11 AM. Light luncheon to follow. Zeita’s final and eternal resting place will be alongside her husband George, in the Macklin cemetery near the family homestead in Fenella, Ontario.
