Bernice Gwendolyn Keating Obituary

With deep sadness we announce that Bernice Keating (nee Mostad) of Port Hope passed away peacefully at her home on June 26, 2025 at the age of 95. Bernice was born in Saskatchewan on May 28, 1930 to Tillie and Gustav Mostad as the youngest of 6 children. In the 1930’s they all moved to British Columbia where, as a young woman, she met her late husband Fraser Keating (1980) and attended art school.

Eventually relocating to Ontario, Bernice and Fraser settled in Port Hope where she proudly lived for the past 45 years. A strong and independent woman, Bernice was also a talented artist who loved to paint. She could turn anything into a work of art from a simple beach rock to cherished memory boxes. Her artistic talents inspired her love of gardening.

Bernice will be greatly missed by her son Jim, daughter Colleen and son-in-law Wayne; grandchildren Sarah, Heather, and Nicole, and her great grandchildren Lauren, Lucas, and Violet.

A celebration of Bernice’s life will be held at the Port Hope Masonic Temple (54 Toronto Road) on Sunday, July 27th, at 1:00pm.
