Debbie Nightingale Obituary

In Loving Memory of Debbie (Deborah) Nightingale

October 14, 1953 – July 10, 2025

With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Debbie Nightingale. A radiant force of nature, a fierce advocate for kindness, and a woman whose love knew no bounds.

Born in Toronto on October 14, 1953, to Buddy and Helen Nightingale, Debbie lived a life overflowing with adventure, drive, humour, and grit. She built a career in the film and television industry, where her tenacity and brilliance made lasting impressions, but her dreams were always rooted in something wilder, and more connected to the earth.

She made that dream a reality, creating a haven in the countryside surrounded by animals, family, and the community she cultivated with her remarkable warmth. Debbie believed in sharing joy. She believed in bringing people together. Haute Goat Farm stands as a living extension of her soul. “This is where I’m supposed to be,” she would often say, and those words ring true now more than ever.

Debbie fought cancer with the same fierce determination she brought to everything in her life. She was not ready to go. She had so much more to give, so much more love to offer, and so many more lives to touch. That she had to leave us too soon feels impossible.

She is deeply mourned by her loving husband, Shain Jaffe; her cherished children, Sarah, Leland, and Noah Nightingale-Forfar; her devoted sister, Caron Nightingale; her caring brother, Ben Nightingale; her treasured stepmother, Margaret Nightingale; and her adored stepchildren, Gita Jaffe and Meave Forfar. She was also a mother by heart and choice to her “adopted children,” Theadora, Owen and Hitarth. Debbie’s grandchildren, Anna and Owen Healey, Chasin and Calev Moss, and Mateo and Mason Mastracci, were her pride and joy.

Debbie’s life was about connection to the land, to animals, and especially to people. She had a way of making you feel seen, celebrated, and entirely at home. Her presence was magnetic. Her absence will be immense.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to walk the trails, share a moment with the animals, and smile in her honour. Donations in memory of Debbie can be made to the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph by visiting here. Celebration of life details to be shared at a later time.
