It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mom Louise Garand, affectionately known as Lulu, on July 15, 2025. Born in Montreal on May 9, 1940 Louise lived a life filled with passion, curiosity and an unwavering devotion to her family.
Louise was the daughter of the late Donat and Catherine Garand. From a young age, Louise possessed a sharp wit and an indomitable spirit that she carried throughout her life. She was a teacher, children’s advocate and community volunteer. As a lifelong learner, Louise cultivated a deep appreciation for art, music and literature and she always enjoyed conquering a challenging crossword puzzle.
A woman of strong convictions, Louise was fiercely loyal to those she loved. She is survived by her children, Jacqueline (Doug) Mann, Lisa (JP) Veri and Mark Rowlatt-Smith and grandchildren Emilie and Sam Mann, and Sophie and Ian Veri. She was the beloved sister of Denise (Andje) Garand, Suzanne Senecal, Joan (Marc) Bailey and the late Gerald Garand and Peter Garand and partner to the late Marcel Pesant.
Sincere thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit of Northumberland Hills Hospital. As per Louise’s wishes, a private interment will be held at a future date in Quebec. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation to their favourite charity in Louise’s memory.
