It is with a heavy heart and great sorrow that we announce the passing of our most beloved mother and wife, Elizabeth Jean Skinner (nee. Roberts) on Saturday August 23rd, 2025 surrounded by family at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg.
Jeanne as she liked to be called was born February 1st, 1950 in Toronto, ON. and grew up just off of Park Lawn Rd, Etobicoke with her parents and older brother. When Jeanne was 18 she began dating her would-be husband, Graham. Jeanne and Graham were married on Sept.11th, 1971. From 1977 to 1984, they had welcomed 3 children into the world and had moved from Mississauga into their new home in Port Hope in 1983. Jeanne started out babysitting for neighboring families until all her children had enrolled into school. She then worked part time as a bank teller for TD Canada Trust for 17 years. While there she had made life long friendships with coworkers and even customers. Jeanne also attended church weekly with her family at Port Hope United Church. From there she enjoyed church functions and even loved teaching Sunday school.
Jeanne had a love of baking, and especially loved making pies for everyone. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren picking strawberries, going to the beach, as she loved the sun, going for long drives out to country side with her husband, going for walks, gardening and being with her family and friends at social events. Her children will also remember her love of painting ceramics, doing plastic canvas, scrapbooking, cheering on her Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Jeanne will be remembered as a strong willed, caring, and loving person with the most infectious smile. She will also be remembered as a "2nd Mom" to all her children's friends as she cared for and loved them as if they were her own. She always made sure she greeted everyone with one of her most described "best hugs".
Jeanne is survived by her husband Graham of almost 54 years, her 3 children Kevin (Amy) Skinner, Colleen (Jeff) Stewart and Cathy (Jimmy) Skinner. Her beloved grandchildren, Emily, Aiden, Lauren, Ireland, Everett and Lucas. Her older brother George (Janice) Roberts and her in laws Lloyd Skinner, Valerie (Jane) Skinner, Tim (June) Skinner and Nancy (Marvin) Green. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She is predeceased by her father Wilson Roberts, mother Margaret Green, stepfather Harlon Green, father in law James Skinner, mother in law Margaret Skinner, brother in laws Peter Daniuk and Jimmy Skinner and sister in laws June Daniuk and Shirley Skinner.
Jeanne will be missed dearly by her many friends, especially her best friends Wayne and Faye Graham.
Jeanne's family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful nurses and doctor at NHH for their compassion and the care their mother recieved before her passing.
