When I moved to Manitoulin, it was Mercedes who was insistent that I know the local pastors. She made sure to call me, connect with me, and connect me with them. She told me how lonely ministry can be and how, without a support network, ministers can burn out. She welcomed me and built my community and was my church mom making sure I was doing self care. I am incredibly grateful for her friendship. I've been missing her since her retirement, and will keep missing her until we meet again around Jesus. God rest you good and faithful servant.
