Larry James Squire Obituary

The family of Larry James Squire are sad to announce his passing on December 17, 2025 at the Northumberland Hills Hospital at the age of 86.

He was the beloved husband of the late Gayl Squire, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories from London, Durham, Guelph, Toronto to Port Hope and beyond.

Larry was the father to Suzanne (Neil) Simpson, Robert (Katherine) Squire and Shannon Squire.

His grandchildren Ty, Tate ( Kiarah) and Claire (Joel) Simpson, Joel (Jocelyn) and Meaghan (Ryan) Squire and Brynn and Sabrina Wenstob, brought so much joy to his life.

Larry is survived by his sister Beverly Woolford, brother Brian (Wendy) Squire, and his sister in law Valerie (Wally) Murray.

Larry loved sports.  He was a lifelong Blue Jays fan, a basketball fan and he spent many years curling in his unique style in Guelph, Unionville and Port Hope.

He loved to win at euchre and bridge and enjoyed all the great people he met through Probus in Port Hope.  His sense of humour was notable as the king of very corny dad jokes.  His garden was his haven, and he enjoyed nurturing both vegetables and flowers.

A big thank you to the staff at Northumberland Hills Hospital  for caring for both Larry and Gayl throughout the years.  A special thanks to Dr. Mule and the nursing staff who took such good care of Larry in his final days.

There will be a celebration of life in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Northumberland Hills Hospital at  Commemorative Giving - Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation
