Kenneth Stewart Black Obituary

BLACK, Kenneth Stewart

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of a husband and our father Kenneth Stewart Black on Wednesday April 8, 2026 at Northumberland Hills Hospital in his 77th year.  Beloved husband of Joyce (nee Stevenson) for over 55 years.  Loving father of Jaime and Dale (Beckie).  He was predeceased by his late parents Stu & Joyce (nee Royal) and late sister Karen Burley.  He will be sadly missed by the late Marlene & Gord Vout, Marilyn & late Les Stevenson, Carol & late Malcom Stevenson, Gwen & Jack Alex, Debbie & Reg Stevenson and Lynne & Rick Stevenson along with many nieces and nephews.

Ken was a devoted family man and loved spending quality time with his wife and children.  He enjoyed reading and teaching young children how to skate and coached them playing hockey.  His strength, wisdom and quietness will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Ken worked as a tool and die machinist at General Foods later known as Kraft for over 20 years.  His true passion and gift was being a true ambassador for the game of hockey.  Coaching four- and five-year-old kids to play the game he loved.  Inspiring them to dream big and excel with giving them life lessons and friendly advice to succeed in the future.  Giving every kid a chance to be a mini-Wayne Gretzky and celebrate their successes was his way of giving back.  He loved the outdoors and could be seen at all sporting events cheering and being a fan.  He had a love for animals growing up on his family farm on Stu Black Road.  Ken was always willing to help anyone needing assistance and no one was ever a stranger as he would have a conversation with anyone.  His doors were always open to his home, day or night.  He will be fondly remembered by all that knew or was around him.

A Celebration of Ken’s life planned for a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please consider n memorial donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
