Dear Joan and family,
I was shocked to hear of Marie's passing. You know from when your dad passed Joan, that I have such fond memories of time spent at your house on Close Ave. Your parents and all of you kids were always so much fun and always welcoming. The Quigley house was the local hang out.......and sometimes a 3 ring circus with all of the kids your parents welcomed in. And every Attwell girl I am sure had one of the Quigley kid in class with them. My memories are long and deep where your family is concerned Joan.. My health is not great at the moment, or I would be attending the service this weekend to properly say goodbye to Marie.
Please accept my deepest condolences to both families.....I will remember Marie in my prayers.
With deepest sympathy
Maureen Attwell

It was a privilege to see her every day. She was unapologetically herself, full of spunk, full of spirit, and full of life. Her smile had a way of lighting up the room and lifting the hearts of those around her. She brought joy, laughter, and individuality to our days, and her presence will be deeply missed. We are grateful for the time we shared with her and will remember her with great affection.

Condolences to Marie’s family on her passing. She was a wonderful person who I had the privilege of working alongside for many years at UniTrak.
Although we were on different teams, our roles often brought us together, and it was always a genuine pleasure to work with her.
Marie was not only dedicated and professional in her work, but also kind, approachable, and someone who made the workplace better for those around her. I will always appreciate the times we collaborated and the positive impact she had.
She will be truly missed, and I am grateful to have known her. My thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time.

I had the pleasure of meeting Marie when I joined UniTrak and took over her previous role. It quickly became clear that I had very large shoes to fill. Marie was a beloved colleague and friend to everyone at the company.
She was kind, caring, patient, and always willing to help others. UniTrak is a family-oriented company, and Marie embodied those values every day through the way she treated those around her.
My deepest condolences go out to her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Marie was a dear friend and also an exceptional and inspiring individual from our community whose dedication and selflessness have left an indelible mark.
I would like to post an excerpt from a speech from November 2023 about Marie when she was honoured with a YMCA Peace Medal Award.
“Marie founded the Port Hope Synchro Club in 1981. This synchronized swimming group, now known as Artistic Swimming, has involved hundreds of children, teens, and adults. The club, entirely volunteer-run with fees solely dedicated to covering pool usage, flourished under Marie's leadership.
Within the club, Marie consistently fostered an inclusive environment, always taking the time to know each swimmer and listen to their stories. The program has accommodated over 700 swimmers of all skill levels over the years, encouraging both recreational and competitive participation. Furthermore, Marie has nurtured a powerful sense of community among the swimmers, emphasizing non-competitive skills, teamwork, and a safe space for authentic self-expression.
But Marie's legacy extends beyond the pool. She did not merely keep the Synchro Club alive for over four decades, but also has inspired several generations of young individuals to actively participate and give back to their community through the club. Many of the club's youth have become volunteer coaches, and even club leaders, passing on the values of teamwork and service. By empowering youth to take on volunteer coaching roles and assume responsibilities within the club, she has further impacted our community and ensured its legacy.”

I met Marie through UniTrak in 1987, not long after I started work at Hapman Conveyors in Michigan. Marie, Jan Mora, Maggie Gulledge and I were the original bulk material handling trade show “booth babes”, and some of the very few technical salespeople in the industry at the time who happened to be women. She was smart, funny and driven, and I will remember her fondly.

Marie was my Synchro coach from the time I was 10 until I graduated high school. She watched me grow up and helped mold me into the person I am today. I will deeply miss Marie as we have kept in touch even after she was no longer my coach in the pool. My greatest sympathies to the family, she was an amazing and caring person who was always there for anyone who needed her.

I remember Marie fondly through her long dedicated time at Unitrac, where I had family coccection through the multi-generational connection with the Gorsline family. Marie will always be part of that fabric, as she will be in all of her other outreaches and connections.
