Reverend Margaret Tandy Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Reverend Margaret Carol Tandy on Friday, June 19th, 2026, at Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg at the age of 76.

Rev. Margaret is survived and missed by her beloved children Matthew Edward Tandy, Bradley James Tandy, and Evan William Tandy. She was a proud mother-in-law to Paula Anne Hart and Monica Marie Webber, and loving grandmother to Emily Victoria Hart, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Tandy, Boone Felix Cole Tandy, Sarah Lillian Tandy, and Nolan Charles Tandy. She will also be missed by her dear brother Murray Charles Storton, and adored closest friend and confidant Anne Elisabeth Oram.

Throughout a distinguished and faithful ministry, she combined a deep commitment to education, pastoral care, and worship. After studying at York University and earning her Master of Divinity from Trinity College at the University of Toronto, she was ordained in the Anglican Church of Canada as a Deacon in 1993 and as a Priest in 1994. Her ministry began with a curacy at St. Timothy's Agincourt, followed by service as Chaplain of Bishop Strachan School. She later served as Incumbent of St. Mark's, Port Hope, and Priest-in-charge at St. Paul's, Perrytown, where she provided dedicated spiritual leadership and guidance to her congregations. Following her retirement, she continued to serve as an Associate Priest at St. John's, Port Hope. Throughout every stage of her ministry, she was known for her active involvement in church music and choir leadership, enriching parish life through her love of worship and community.

Family and friends will be received at Rushnell Funeral Home, 103 Mill Street North, Port Hope on Friday, July 3rd, 2026 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. The funeral mass for Rev. Margaret will take place at St. John’s Anglican Church, 33 Pine Street North, Port Hope on Saturday, July 4th, 2026, at 11am. A reception will follow in the parish hall.

Margaret loved her Lord and was secure in the knowledge that He loved her. Amen
