With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ruby Virginia Prest on Thursday, July 16th, 2026, at 100 years. 

Ruby was born in Riverport, Nova Scotia, and her heart never completely left the East Coast. 

She was predeceased by her parents Robie and Vera Creaser, her sister Marie and brother-in-law Walter Rowe, her husband of 54 years and her soulmate Garnett (together they were the gems), and her beautiful son Bob (Debra), still sorely missed. 

She will be greatly missed by her daughter Cindy (Peter) Stewart, and her grandchildren Eric (Sylvie), Amelia (Darren), Cole, and Yvonne (Ryan); and great-grandchildren Marcel, Lennox, and Ella.

Garnett and Ruby had a truly wonderful life together through nine moves all over Ontario with the bank. Wherever they landed, Ruby became an active volunteer at the local Anglican Church and loved singing in the choir. We have memories of her singing in the car all the way to Nova Scotia. She and Garnett spent many winters in Florida and loved travelling, making friends wherever they went. 

Special thanks to Empire Crossing for many years of care and kindness to Ruby. Thanks also to NHH Palliative Care unit and especially to Ed’s House for making Ruby’s last days so comfortable. 

Rest in peace Ruby and may there be abundant lobster!
