Orville Clifford Hooey Obituary

HOOEY, Orville Clifford

Orville Clifford Hooey, 57, of Brighton, Ontario, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, at Ed's House Hospice in Cobourg, Ontario.

Orv is lovingly remembered by his wife, April Hooey; his daughter, Dakota; his granddaughter, Carole; and his five siblings: Teresa Cadieux (Pierre), Cindy Armstrong (Paul), James Hooey, Deborah Sovie (Ralph), and Catherine Cross (Rodney). He will also be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother, Helen Hooey; his father, Beverly Hooey; and his sisters, Donna Hooey and Edith Wipp.

Orv was born on June 4, 1969, to Helen and Beverly Hooey. From an early age, he was an energetic child with a perpetual smile and a friendly nature that made him easy to love. He had a special affection for animals, and while living in Owen Sound, he could often be found at the horse barns at the racetrack, where he felt close to both his dad and the horses.

In 1976, the family moved to Red Bay, Ontario, where Orv loved spending his summers swimming in the lake. He was a devoted brother who always looked out for his family. As he grew older, he developed a passion for fishing and hunting, but he was happiest when rebuilding an old car or truck. Gifted with both skill and generosity, Orv was always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Although he was known for his cheerful spirit, the happiest day of his life came when he met his beloved wife, April. He often said, "She took my breath away." We will never forget the excitement in his voice when she accepted his marriage proposal. They were married in 2012 and spent the next 14 wonderful years together, fulfilling Orv's dreams of being a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Orv, you will live forever in our hearts and in the countless memories we shared. You were truly one of a kind. Until we meet again, may you rest high upon the mountain, reunited with the loved ones who have gone before you.

The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses, doctors, and staff at Ed's House Hospice in Cobourg for the exceptional care, compassion, and support they provided to Orv and our family throughout his final journey. Your kindness, professionalism, and unwavering dedication will never be forgotten.
