Obituary of Tony Prower

John Anthony Mervyn (Tony) Prower

On Sunday June 25^th, 2023, Tony passed away at his home in Port Hope. Survived by his wife Lynne (nee: Kitney), his daughters Sarah Prower and Elizabeth Prower (David Brooks), stepsons Jeremy Short and Adrian Short (Jennifer), nephew Hamish McIntosh (Joanna), and grandchildren Douglas Brooks, Ella Short and Russell Short. Tony is predeceased by his parents Brigadier John Mervyn Prower, D.S.O. and Sylvia Prower (nee: Mundy), and sisters Una Taylor and Lorna McIntosh.

From his Graduation at Trinity College School in 1946, Tony’s career was one of music, studying at McGill University, and then returning to TCS as Music Master for forty years. From positions of organist and choir master at St Mark’s Anglican church, to involvement in local plays and musical events, as well as contributions to Friends of Music, Tony left his musical fingerprint on the Port Hope community.

Tony’s energetic legacy will keep the music alive in the many hearts of his family, dear friends and School community.
