Cecile Elizabeth Ann Loescher

Obituary of Cecile Elizabeth Ann Loescher

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cecile Loescher July 14,2023 at Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg. Beloved wife of the late René Loescher. Cecile was born on January 9,1924 in Heidelberg Germany, the eldest of 4 children. At the age of 14, she began an apprenticeship at a local butcher shop. She worked hard during the week and returned home on weekends. It was at this shop that she met the love of her life, René. They married in 1943, in Strasbourg France. Shortly after marrying, René was called away to join the war effort. He returned 1 1/2 years later to be reunited with Cecile and their first daughter Monique. They welcomed second daughter Josiane in 1950. The family of 4 decided to emigrate to Canada in 1953, where they joined Cecile's sister Elizabeth and her husband to settle in Hampton. In 1959 they welcomed their 3rd daughter Lorraine into the family. Cecile and René became active members of Club Loreley where they met many of their friends. They both enjoyed many years of get togethers and they often hosted New Years and Carnival parties. Mom enjoyed a good laugh, had a beautiful smile and had many witty sayings in her repertoire! She loved to travel, and spent many years touring with her sister Elizabeth and later included her daughters in her adventures. A strong and independent woman, proud of her family, she cherished family events and visits from her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cecile will be deeply missed by her Sister Elizabeth, children Monique, Josiane, Lorraine (Roland), grandchildren Corinna (Bernice), Michelle (Chad), Chris (Jennise), Brandon (Toni), great grandchildren William, Kevin (Melissa), Sophie and Ada. Also deeply missed by her nieces and nephews and their respective families. A very special thank you to Dr. Bayer and the Palliative Care nurses, PSW's and Doctors of Northumberland Hills Hospital. A private Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
