Obituary of Ronald James Spiewak

Surrounded by love in his home, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Ronald James Spiewak on August 23, 2023 in his 73rd year. Ron bravely fought leukemia for the last two years with courage and grace. Deeply loved in life, he will be greatly missed by his wife Linda, his children Bart (Mandy) and Katy (Todd), his grandchildren Molly, Marek, Ryder, and Rowan, his siblings Ray (Lyn), and Theresa (Joe), Mother-in-law, Sally, and his extended family and many friends.

Ron loved life and lived every day to its fullest. Ron always had a selfless desire to help lift up the underdog, always quietly giving from his heart. Not known to be still, Ron spent a lifetime creating memories, leaving his loved ones with many stories of his caring acts and thoughtfulness, his carefree attitude toward the 'rules', and his guileless approach to life.

Despite facing the challenge of losing his dominant hand as a child, Ron was active both in business and sport, developing a love for hockey, golf, and biking.

Ron loved his community and his wide network of close friends and colleagues. He was a successful businessman, past President of the Northumberland Sunrise Rotary Club, and the Ontario Tire Dealers Association (OTDA), a shark at the Blackjack table, and an avid traveler.

A warm thank you to all of the friends and family who reached out, supported and sent love over the last two years. A special thank you to Dr. Mulé and the palliative care team for helping to honour Ron's wish of staying at home.

An open house celebration of life will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2023 1-4pm at Dalewood Golf Course at 7465 Dale Rd, Cobourg, Ontario. Speeches will take place at 2pm. Please RSVP to celebrate.RJS@gmail.com

Donations in memory of Ron can be made to the charity of your choice. Alternatively, please consider donating blood to the Canadian Blood Services, which helped sustain Ron over the last two years.
