Peter Warren Marr

Obituary of Peter Warren Marr

Marr, Dr. Peter W. It is with deep sadness that the family of Dr. Peter W. Marr, son of the late Doris and Warren Marr, announce his sudden death at home on Tuesday December 6th. After receiving his PhD. in Chemistry from the University of Toronto, Peter joined Dominion Colour Corporation as a research chemist and eventually assumed the roles of Manager of the Organic Pigment Laboratory, Technical Service Manager, Business Manager and Market Development Manager. In 1996 he became DCC's ISO 9000 and Regulatory Advisor and Manager. After his retirement in 2002 Peter remained active as a consultant to several companies for environmental health and safety matters. Several years ago Peter was awarded an Industry Statesman Award from the Canadian Paint and Coatings Association. Peter enjoyed a full and productive life with his partner of 32 ½ years, Beverley Batchellor. From early spring to late fall they enjoyed sitting in the sun on many of Toronto's outdoor patios. They were members of the Trillium Miata Club and spent many weekends travelling the countryside, top down. Their favourite fall destination was a yearly jaunt to Bar Harbour, Maine. Peter was an avid history buff and was rarely without a book in hand. Several years ago Peter and Beverley bought a second home in Port Hope – a weeding retreat for Bev and a reading retreat for Peter. Peter was a generous uncle to his niece, Oriana, and his nephews Caelan, Byran, and Martin. Peter will be missed by Beverley, who now wears his Chemistry ring around her neck, his brother, Glyn, as well as Rene and Gerald, Sandra and Jim, Byran, Jennifer and Riley, Martin, Rhonda and Lincoln, Oriana, Piotr and Elliot, Caelan and Jason. Family and friends are invited to a remembrance service for Peter at Allison Funeral Home, 103 Mill St., Port Hope, Tuesday Dec. 13th at 1 p.m.
