I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to all of Hank's family. For right now, there's no detour around grief, no shortcut through mourning. However, 2 Cor.4:7 says that God can give us, "...power beyond what is normal ", to go from one day to the next. This does not mean that we no longer cry, or that we forget. It means we recover. We recover because of our hope. Jesus Christ talked about our hope in John 5:28 which says, "... all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out ". Jesus was referring to the resurrection. That is our amazing hope! The Bible likens our hope to an anchor. Just like an anchor stabilizes a ship, our hope stabilizes us and keeps us from drowning in overwhelming sadness. 2 Cor.1:3 describes our Creator as, "...the God of all comfort ". One way that God comforts us is by moving people who care about us to give us words of encouragement that we need to hear. May the God of comfort be your comfort now, during this time of sorrow. Barbara,
We are so very sad to learn of Hank's passing and were unaware until now.
Hank came to us as a painter and we like to think he left as a friend. Truly to know him was to love him. No matter how I changed my mind mid painting he was always calm and serene when he could easily have thrown the paint bucket at me or whatever.
He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.

We are sending our sympathy to the surviving family of Hank Castelyn.
Hank painted our home when we moved to Port Hope 13 years ago....he made a beautty out of the shabbiest home on the Avenue.
Our street and many streets throughout our county have been touched and brought to life by his gift.
Hank was a humble human being, We are blessed to have known him....take care at this difficult time.

Dear Hank
With all my heart I hope
that you will not be alone
on the other side where we can’t come
With all my heart I hope
that angels exist,
that they’ll catch you like a mother does her newborn child
With all my heart I hope
that they’ll carry you to the land of our dreams.
That you will meet the ones
which have gone before us
Our loved ones, fathers, mothers
With all my heart I hope
you’ll be cherished there
That you’ll find peace,
happiness, light and love
A glorious new beginning
our sympathy to Barb and all the beloved ones

Jeanne and I were very saddened to learn about Hank's recent passing. Our acquaintance spanned nearly forty years and during that time we came to appreciate not only his skill as a painter, but also his wry sense of humor. Many stories were shared at our house, and many great memories remain. Our deepest sympathies are extended to Barbara and family. Hank was highly regarded and will be missed by so many.

Barb and family , you have our deepest sympathies in your loss of Hank. I write this with a tear in my eye as Hank was a true friend and at times a work buddy. He was a big man with an even bigger heart and always that dry sense of humor. He was always compassionate and caring friend. I met Hank in the early 70's and we hit it off great. We will miss our good friend and my BEST friend. Love you big guy and please R.I.P Ken and Gail.

Sorry to hear about Hank. He was quite the character. We grew to love you's as neighbours. Always enjoying a Wilson visit over the fence. Hank will be missed dearly but never forgotten. Always with a laugh or joke to be shared. Truly he was one of a kind. Much love and peace sent to Barb and your family in this most difficult time. Xo
