Mrs. Litherland was my kindergarten teacher many many years ago at E.B. Phin Public School. She was such a loving, caring lady. She was with us for many years at that school.
I ran into when I was in Grade 11 at the Dominion at the Pickering Town Centre. She approached me and right away said" Wendy Neville is that you?" I couldn't believe after all those years and pupils she taught she remembered me and had changed so much. It took me a second to recognize her and was so surprised that to me she hadn't aged a bit.
Condolences to your family.

Mrs Litherland was my teacher some 49 years ago. It is funny but I did not ever know her first name. She was and will always be Mrs Litherland to me. A woman who's simple act of kindness to me all those years ago, helped instill in me the power of empathy and that the smallest of gestures can have lasting effects on the recipient. I can say with great confidence that her family and especially the little ones will have certainly benefited from her gentle guidance. And although the world may be a sadder place without her, it will be a better place because of her. All the very best from the Coombs Family.

I worked at EB Phin with Elaine and she was so warm and full of energy working with those kindegartens. I know the early lessons and values that Elaine taught to her students carries on in all those that she touched.

Mrs. Litherland, always thought of you often throughout the years. My very first teacher (kindergarten) such a lovely, caring and amazing teacher. I was just telling my husband about you about a week ago. It’s funny how kindergarten is the one grade I remember the most of all of them. That says a lot about the teacher. Thank you Mrs. Litherland.

I have been gone from Pickering for more than half my life now, but still think of Mrs.Litherland often enough. I was in her kindergarten class at E.B Phin in 79-80 what a wonderful lady. I will always remember her fondly. All my love ❤️

E.B.Phin was a special place and holds dear memories. Your mother, Mrs. Litherland, was a gem beyond gems. She made each of us feel special, valued, and worthy. Her high expectations were firm but caring. I continue to be grateful that she shared that she was born left-handed, as am I, but that she was "not allowed" to be, and in turn, she made every effort to ensure that my left-handedness was not untaught or physically restrained or punished as it was for her. I don't think that I would be the educator, mother, or women I am today had she not been part of my lived experience. I wish that I had had a chance to tell her as much in person.
My sincere condolences.

Your Mom was such a wonderful, kind and gentle woman. She was my kindergarten teacher and I have such fond memories of her as my teacher. When I think of your mom I always remember her bright and contagious smile while she played the piano at various plays and functions at E.B. Phin. I hope it gives you comfort in knowing that she left a positive impression on so many people. My condolences.

My deepest condolences and most sincere sympathy for the loss of Elaine to the entire family and the many friends who knew her over the years.
She was truly one of a "special" kind of person who could separate the truth from everything else. She knew what was important and lived in the moment.
She walked to the beat of her own drum and connected with everyone she met.
She had a joyous heart and people who had any interaction with her caught her infectious smile.
I wish that I had more time to know her and would have loved to watch the Maple Leaf games with her.
