Obituary of Alan David Mote

Alan, Mote

Resident of Cobourg, passed away on Tuesday July 23, 2019 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, at the age of 71.

The eldest of four, Alan was born on November 10th, 1947 in Toronto to parents Victor and Doris. He attended W.A. Porter Collegiate, where he met mentor and music teacher Mr. Simard. Joining the band in Grade Nine helped transform Alan into the confident man we have grown to love, inspiring youth in musical pursuits and Junior Achievement, which teaches financial literacy.

Graduating from Centennial College after studying Data Processing, Alan transitioned into a successful insurance career spanning over forty years, starting at Royal Insurance, and later working at Morris & Mackenzie, The Hull Group, and Paisley Manor.

The sentimental side of Alan enjoyed taking long drives to revisit some of his favourite places.

He regularly enjoyed his coffee mornings with friends, over thirty years commitment to the Masonic Lodge and his dedication to his church and his faith.

Alan will be fondly remembered by his loving partner Shelagh Lucas, and his children Elaine, Marlo (Richard), Adam (Robyn) and Rachel. He will also be missed by his eight grandchildren and his sister Marilyn (Richard) and Norman (Francis).

He was predeceased by his brother Kenny and his parents Victor and Doris Mote (nee Adams).

The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday July 31st at 1pm, at the Port Hope United Church, 34 South Street, Port Hope with visitation the evening of Tuesday July 30th from 7-9pm at Allison Funeral Home, 103 Mill Street North, Port Hope. Masonic Lodge service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 6:30 pm.

The family is asking that in lieu of flowers consider donating to www.musicounts.ca or the Port Hope United Church.

We would like to acknowledge the staff of Lakeridge Health Oshawa, Critical Care Unit, for their exceptional care and compassion.
