Obituary of Pearl Irene Connor

Pearl Irene Connor 1927-2019 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pearl Irene Connor on November 14, 2019, at age 92. Pearl was the beloved wife of Allan for 66 years until he passed away on March 11. She was the loving mother of Steve (Heather) and Rebekah (Shawn). She was the dear grandfather of Sarah (Sam), Jon, Nicholas, Lindsay (Rob), and Daniel, and great-grandfather of Isabelle and Alexander. She was predeceased by her elder brother, Alven, and elder sisters Phrona and Nell. Born on a farm in the Haliburton Highlands, she trained and worked as a baby nurse before marrying Allan on Sept. 27, 1952. Pearl's resilience and practical nature were wonderful assets, as they lived in many places in Canada and overseas, including India and Ghana, Nova Scotia, and finally, Port Hope, Ontario. Pearl was kind and gentle, devoting herself to her family throughout her life. She was a wonderful cook and a gracious hostess, often entertaining family and friends. She was a loving presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren, always there to give encouragement (or a few candies!). Her passing is a huge loss, and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A special thank you to all the staff at Port Hope Extendicare for their outstanding care and support. In the new year, there will be a service for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northumberland Fare Share Foodbank (fareshare.ca).
