Obituary of Agnes Elizabeth Gordon
GORDON, Agnes Elizabeth (Wendy) - wife of the former TCS master John (Gay) Gordon, died peacefully on December 6th, 2015, in her ninetieth year. She was surrounded by her children. Throughout her life, Wendy wore many hats-she wrote radio commercials for CHUC at one time, and worked as a teacher and a librarian at TCS for several years. In the 1970s, she began Port Hope's recycling program. She also volunteered in many capacities - as a tutor, a fundraiser for several charities, notably the Canadian Cancer Society, an organizer of book-sales for the Port Hope Hospital Auxiliary, and a home visitor for Community Care. She enjoyed her bridge partners and dog-walking friends, and spending time in her gardens. She particularly loved her many summers on Georgian Bay and was always welcoming visitors to the Gordon island. Wendy was predeceased by her husband and her brother David. She will be dearly missed by her many friends in Port Hope and by her nieces and nephews, and especially by her six children Ian (Lori), Dick (Barbara), David (Ester), Jean, Colin (Sarah), and Alex (Barbra), and her nine grandchildren - Pamela, Sheila, Graeme, Owen, Rosalie, Zach, Isabel, Alex and Cameron. Wendy's family would like to thank the staff at Roseglen Village for Seniors, and the remarkable nurses at the palliative care ward at the Northumberland Hills Hospital.
