Gareth Jones was the assistant headmaster during my three years at Trinity College School. During that time he always demonstrated caring and compassion for all students and staff. He was truly a warm and genuine person that looked after his fellow human beings and left a positive impact on the world. My condolences to the Jones family.

I had the honour of knowing Mr. Jones for 42 years through my ongoing friendship with his daughter Nicola. He was a true gentleman with quiet humour who always treated everyone with respect and he will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Mrs. Jones, Nicola and Rob, Sian and Douglas and the girls, my heart goes out to you with the loss of such a classy man who loved you dearly. I know we will all miss him and think of him often.

It was with great sadness that I read of Mr. Jones’ passing. I was part of the class of 1997 and had Mr. Jones as a teacher for several of my math classes. He was also so kind and patient. I can remember on one occasion, he returned to the school in the evening to provide additional tutoring before my Calculus exam. Me dressed in the compulsory “grunge” phase attire (plaid flannel shirt, leggings and hiking boots); and Mr. Jones in his customary light grey suit and tie going over each and every one of my questions, until I felt confident for the next day’s exam. He didn’t seem to mind that I had cut into his evening personal time, and refuse to leave until I felt comfortable. I am fairly sure I only got through Calculus because of him! He was definitely a special teacher, and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to learn from him.

Dear Gillian, Sian and Nicola,
We were so sad to hear of Gareth's passing. He was a true gentleman, one respected by everyone who knew or came into contact with him. His wonderful sense of humour touched us on so many occasions and we often repeated his jokes afterwards. His kindness and unfailing support were, and still are, appreciated.
Please know that we are thinking of you and hope that happy memories will help and support you during this sad time.
Sincerely,

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the Jones family as they face the loss of a beloved husband, father and grandfather.I remember Gareth as a respected Master at TCS ,a kind friend to my family and a valued member of the Port Hope Community. One of the last times I saw him was a few years ago at a Retired Teachers Meeting and he was enjoying that new title to the fullest with his characteristic smile and the twinkle in his eyes.So many people will miss him but you special ones most of all and we offer our support at this time.
Try to sing the School Leaving Hymn to yourselves and I hope it will bring you some comfort...I know Gareth loved TCS as did my father and when he passed all of a sudden a hymn that had made me sad on Speech Day for many years made me feel a totally different way.
I know you will find strength in your memories of a kind, loving and respected man.

Dearest Gill and family:
Gareth was the first fellow I met when started my "new job" (back in 1996) at TCS. I thought then, he was the kindest gentleman I had ever met and I adored him immediately. I was correct. Gareth had the best smile and wonderful sense of humour! My prayers are with you, Gill, (and family) and my heart aches for his loss. Hopefully, soon, I can give you a hug, and tell you, in person, what a wonderful influence your precious Gareth made in my life. God has the best angel now! love and caring, Judi Cunningham
