Heather was my friend for 20 years and we shared many good times together. She was always welcome at our house and she was regarded as one of the family, a sister to me and my husband and an aunt to my children.
I envied her artistic and musical talent, her creativity and her independent nature. She took great pride in her abilities and justly so. Everything she did was done with precision and care until it met her definition of perfection, which was pretty strict. Her work was beautiful.
Unfortunately we had a falling out a few years ago and lost touch. I mourned the loss of the friendship and I always wished for the day when I'd look outside and see her car coming up my driveway. I regret we will never again share a pot of tea and an afternoon of chat.
Rest well and easy, my friend. Be at peace.

Heather was in my life before I can remember and she stayed for over 20 years. To me and my 3 siblings she was our aunt, even though she wasn't related, she was more an aunt than anyone else. She was with us for every special and holiday dinner, she was always at our house to enjoy the company of a bunch of weird crazy kids and two loving friends who were my parents, and she was the one person who you could expect at any time because she knew she never had to call, she was always welcome. I always imagined her at all my big life events that would happen in my adulthood, and she was at some, but we unfortunately lost her presence for the last 8 years. It broke all of our hearts when my dad died, but I'm sure it broke her heart in a way she couldn't take. He was her first friend in our family. They were always on the phone together and he was a listening ear and a friendly counsel to her for all those 20 years. Dad loved her, we all did. We all do. We missed her dearly these past 8 years, and we always hoped that we would get her back. It breaks our hearts that we won't. I hope that she is at peace, in no pain, and knows fully now how much we love her for everything that she was.
I will remember her great humour, her wonderful smile, her care for us, her amazing talent and creativity, and her soft and deeply loving heart. I love you Heather, I'll never forget you, and I'll still miss you for the rest of my life.

So sad to hear of Heather's untimely passing. I worked with her for about 10 years back in the 80's and for a couple of years around 2005. Just ran into her a couple of months ago. She was a kind soul.

I first met Heather through my parents. That was many years ago and over time we became friends. She was very talented. She always spoke her mind. She was honest and caring. If she said something or offered something she always kept her word. I respected her. I will miss our long talks. I know what it means to have a younger sibling pass away as my brother died in 2004 at the age of 52. My deepest sympathy goes out to her sister Ann. During my life many people have passed away or come and gone into my life and I am always reminded of a writing my mom framed.
People come into your path for a reason, a season or a lifetime
When someone is in your life for a REASON it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty…
To provide you with guidance and support…
To aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually…
They may seem like they are a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then without any wrongdoing on your part, or at an inconvenient time the relationship will come to an end.
Sometimes they die…
Sometimes they walk away…
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand….
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled…
Their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has now been answered and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a SEASON.
Because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons.
Things you must build upon to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind, but friendship is clairvoyant.
Heather, thank you for being a part of my life…
Whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime or a bit of all I will miss you.

I got to know Heather when she worked for 8 months in Kingston and rented a room from me. We have kept in touch and visited each other every since. After she moved back to Port Hope, she discovered she loved my cats and of course she had a favorite. By the end of her stay here, I knew whether she was talking to me, the cats or herself. She and I could talk for hours. Heather and I went to Holland to see the sites and visit with all my family there. She and I really enjoyed that trip. I will sure miss getting together with her. My thoughts are with her family and friends. Rest in peace my dear friend! Love, Jen

What a beautiful smile! It is so revealing of a person's character and personality. Regrettably I never met Heather, however I have had the pleasure of getting to know Ann through our email exchanges. Ann, I mourn with you as I know the heartbreak of losing a loving sister. May Heather Rest In Peace and may you be spared further sorrow.

“Like a bird singing in the rain, let grateful memories survive in time of sorrow.”
I will always remember our childhood days at the farm, such fun playing in the barn, the fields, the little play house, listening to Heather play the piano, learning about the animals. Was my second home I think. We were in school together for 10 years until we lost contact but found each other as adults! We had many adventures antiquing, going to craft shows, shopping and just getting together for lunch and coffee!! I will miss our long chats on the phone and visits!! RIP My Dear Friend!!!
