Obituary of Catherine Teresa Kerr

Catherine Teresa Kerr

Catherine Teresa Kerr (nee Whelan), born June 24, 1949, passed into God’s embrace August 8 after a valiant battle with IPF leading to a double lung transplant.  Her beloved husband Bryan was by her side.  He was the rock that kept her steady these past few years.  She was pre-deceased by her parents, Catherine and Jack, her brothers, Peter (Mary) and Paul (Mary Katherine).  She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Siobhan (David) and Ashley (Noah) and by Andrew (Inge), Veronica and her sister Anne.  She leaves her legacy with her cherished grandchildren, Emma, Austin, Lachlan, Cameron, Parker, Aibhlin and Faye, her godchildren, Marnie, Kira, Malcolm, Erin, Meaghan and Gregory and her many nieces and nephews.  She was an elegant, vibrant and sociable woman who drew others to her warmth.  Her pleasant, witty nature enabled her to make friends wherever she went from the University of Toronto, to her time at the City of Toronto, St. Clement’s Church and the Geneva Centre.  Cathy had a knack for maintaining and nurturing friendships both new and old.  She had a passion for travel, particularly to St. Maarten, Rome and Florida.  She was an avid decorator and lived to entertain, treating her guests to her deft culinary skills. Cathy was a wonderful example of God’s glory on earth and will be greatly missed.  The family would like to thank the caring staff at Toronto General Hospital and Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg.  A mass and celebration of life will be held at a later date following Covid restrictions. If desired, memorial contributions can be made to the UHN Foundation www.uhnfoundation.ca
