Obituary of Michael Edmund Hickey

Hickey, Michael ("Mike") Edmund

Beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away tragically and much too soon on 27 October 2021 at the age of 55.

Michael was born on July 5, 1966 in Port Hope Ontario where, except for three years he spent in Ottawa attending Carleton University studying urban planning, he lived his entire life. In Port Hope, Michael built a successful contracting business and earned his reputation as a gifted tradesman over his 30+ years as a licensed carpenter and contractor. In equal parts, he took great pride and care in his craftsmanship and in his family.

Michael's untimely death leaves behind his wife Janet (Lowry), his children Samantha (Johnathan Sparks), Megan and Brent, his parents Edmund and Maureen Hickey, his sisters Laura (John Pokocky) and Lisa (Michael Thiele), his Parents in-law Lynford and Elsie Lowry, his siblings-in-law Rob (Kay) and Randy Lowry, and his nieces and nephews Stephen, Nathan, Eric, Lizzie, Kristin and Keely. Mike's many good friends and extended family members will miss his fun-loving nature, his cheekiness, and his undying passion for his Habs.

An invitation-based funeral will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Hope on 1 November at 11:00 AM.

Visitation will be held at Allison Funeral Home, 103 Mill Street North, Port Hope on 30 October and 31 October 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, please contact Allison Funeral Home to register in advance for the visitation between 8 am and 4 pm at 905-885-5611.

Memorial donations may be made to the Ontario Brain Injury Association. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the kind and professional staff at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, especially Dr. Lawless and the staff of the Trauma and Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit, as well as the first responders of Northumberland.
