Dear Dorothy and family
How saddened we were to here of Owen’s passing. You have been our friends since we arrived in Port Hope and yours and our children had many great associations through sports and other activities. Of course how could we forget our church association where sitting directly behind you it was easy for me to “nudge” Owen over some amusing incident and his sly sideways glance and nod would be observed. Probus club connections and activities were enjoyed for years.
Owen will be missed by all of you, as well as the Port Hope community.
Hold your memories close to your heart knowing that our prayers are with you and the family at this difficult time.

Dear Dorothy and family: Thinking of you and sending along deepest sympathies on the passing of Owen. I've known your family for many, many years. I worked with Owen at Lent Travel on my return from my overseas trip in 1972. Owen was a very kind and considerate gentleman. I remember Owen and the "Coffee Club Boys" dropping by for coffee when Rod and I owned the Ganaraska Rainbow Cafe, Bait and Tackle for three years. Owen will be missed by many in the Municipality of Port Hope.

My memories of Owen go back to my childhood as we were all neighbours on"The Avenue"; he was always jolly, happy and helpful. Later on in life our paths were in parallel, working on the main street, and all the good times we had as members of the Lions Club. May he rest in peace, my prayers are with you all.

I was so very sorry to hear of Owen’s passing. I worked for he and Dorothy at Lent Travel for many years. He was truly a gentle man, so kind and compassionate and with such a wicked sense of humor. I could write an entire book about my time at their travel agency alone. They were very exciting and heady days. A lifetime of memories is a wonderful thing and I’m sure that they will be of comfort to your family.
My husband and I also had the pleasure of being married by Owen 28 years ago.

With our deepest sympathy to the Lent family on the death of Mr. Lent, a true gentleman. We have known Mr. Lent for decades - starting back in the 70's when I first started St. Lawrence Flowers and he was a fellow downtown merchant at Lent Travel. He then "married" my wife and I in his role as Provincial Court Justice. I remember that just prior to our marriage ceremony, he said that he was going to give us the "full" ceremony because he thought our marriage would last! And it has - we'll be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary in a couple of months. God speed to you, and many thanks to you for all you were to so many people throughout your personal and professional life. Ted and Brenda Quinn

I’m so sorry to hear of Owen’s passing. My husband and I met him and Dorothy at Port Hope United Church. Owen and I shared the same rascally sense of humour and often were found to be chortling about some matter as we milled around in the church narthex. One time Owen happened to be in front of me in a long line-up at the LCBO; we were each buying a bottle of wine. Everything was fairly quiet. I said to Owen, “I won’t need a bag; I’m drinking mine on the way home.” He responded, “Same here - but I’m going to drink mine in the parking lot.” The quiet in the line-up lasted for about another 20 seconds, and then everyone started laughing and eventually chatting. I’m really going to miss him.

Family of Owen-
We were very sorry to hear of Owens’ passing. We had known “O” (as we called him) for many years. He & “Dorf” were always welcoming any time we were at their home. We have many fond memories of being in his company. He always had a smile & as someone mentioned, usually a “smart ass” comment to go along with it. He was such a professional man in the performance of his duties as “Justice of the Peace”. We always had great respect for him & will always remember him for the man he was. Port Hope has lost another pillar of the Community. He will be missed.
We hope the wonderful memories you have, help you in the time ahead.
Our deepest sympathy to each member of his family.

He was a faithful, witty, member of Port Hope United Church.
