Obituary of Audrey Annette Mitchell

Audrey Mitchell

February 28,1920 - April 23,2022

The world lost a beautiful soul today after a brief illness.

Audrey Annette Mitchell (nee Bone) was in her 103rd year.

Audrey was the daughter of Cecil Howard Bone and Hilda Mae Bone (nee Uttley) of Port Hope and the third eldest of eight siblings.

Audrey was a teen when she moved to Toronto in the 1930's with a suitcase and a train ticket to help a family member that was recently widowed with young children.

"That's just what you did in those days", she'd say.

She studied nutrition, hence her ability to stay healthy into her later years.

Audrey was a self-taught seamstress and a savvy business woman and in the late 1950's after years of hard work she bought herself a bungalow in Scarborough.

A few years later Audrey met the love of her life Alfred Henry Mitchell a.k.a Harry and in 1961 they were married.

Together they bought, renovated and sold multiple properties, travelled through Europe and enjoyed vacation properties in Florida and Rice Lake.

Audrey and Harry returned to Port Hope in the late 1970's and were close to family again.

When Harry passed in 2000, Audrey's sister June left Florida and moved in with her widowed sister. Their relationship was special.

Audrey was a selfless caregiver and the best friend you would be blessed to have.

Audrey loved to entertain and especially loved birthdays.

She'd buy the cake, wine, cheese and fruit just so everyone would come around and celebrate.

Audrey's kindness and conversations will be missed by her many friends and family.

Audrey was one of a kind….the best kind.

A private graveside service will take place June 23,2022 at Welcome Cemetery.

A special Thank you to Dr. Azzopardi for his care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Elizabeth, The Port Hope Library or The Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.

Condolences received at Allison Funeral Home Port Hope, Ontario.
