I have fond memories of growing up next door to doug and Wilma on peacock street. Both of them sweet, caring and loving people. I am soooo sorry to hear of Doug's passing as my heart breaks for Wilma. But I rest assured he is making a beautiful spot right beside him for his wonderful wife with whom he adored. All my love to Wilma, their family and friends. RIP Doug
Sincerely

Wilma, John, Peter and your families
We were saddened to hear about Doug’s passing and are sending our deepest condolences to you all. Our meetings were few but he was a lovely man. A consummate professional gentleman but with a glint in his eye that you knew could either spell trouble or lots of laughs. May all those happier memories bring you all comfort.
Special thoughts to Doug and Wilma’s siblings and in laws especially Alvin, Chuck & Betty, Uncle Harold & family and the Waites. Thinking of you all and so sorry for your loss

To Wilma and family: I was saddened to hear about the passing of Doug. I have been reflecting about the many years I knew Doug as manager of Scotia Bank in Port Hope, and the excellent service he provided. Rod and I enjoyed chatting with you both when we were out for walks on Lake Street. It was great to see you both in recent years at the butterfly release at Dorothy's House Museum.
With deepest sympathy,
Joan Parrott

Wilma & Family-
Very sorry to hear about your loss. Although we didn’t know Doug very well, we could tell upon our first meeting with him he was quite a character & very friendly. That meeting was when some of us from the Police Service played for the “Town Criers” baseball team way back when. Gary’s uncle Goldy (Bob Gold) knew Doug from when they worked together at the bank & always spoke very highly of Doug.
Please know we are thinking of you.

Wilma, John, Peter and your families. We met your family many years ago, when we ended up living 2 houses from each other in Port Hope. Thank you for teaching us how to be good neighbours. We have so many wonderful memories of time spent with you. It bonded us immediately knowing we had Ottawa Valley roots. You both guided us through our early years of parenting with two little boys who loved to visit Doug and Wilma. A couple memories we will never forget are one of you climbing through one of our windows to rescue our dog that we forgot to take with us on vacation and the lemon pie fiasco! Unfortunately as time passes, and we move on, we lose touch somewhat, but we would reconnect and catch up. We loved Doug's ability to "cut to the chase" and "call a spade a spade". He was a prankster for sure but we respected him so much. Know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers during this sad time. RIP Doug - you will be missed!

To Wilma, John, and Peter and their families,
We met Doug and Wilma at church and realized that they have a deep faith. Doug never complained during his illness and told me "what is the use of complaining". Doug had God's Grace. I have been introduced to each in the family through Willma's loving discussions about each one of you. She is so proud of you all. I thank you Wilma for the privledge Doreen and I had spending some nights with Doug and you. Our deepest sympathy. We will miss Doug.

Wilma and Family: Very sorry to hear of the passing of Doug, he was always a gentleman, and a fine judge of steak, we did share the odd one in years gone by, and some really good laughs. May he rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.
