Obituary of Allen Martin Zoldy

Zoldy, Allen Martin

With saddened hearts we announce the passing of Allen Martin (Al) Zoldy, at the age of 82 of Port Hope, Ontario. He passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord with his wife, family and Pastor by his side on January 28th in Cobourg, Ontario.

Visitation for friends and family will be held at Allison Funeral Home 103 Mill Street North, Port Hope on Thursday February 2nd 6-8pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cobourg, Ontario on Friday February 3rd at 10am with Rev. Pastor Kevin Fast officiating. Reception to follow at the church and burial at Union Cemetery in Port Hope at 1:30pm.

Allen is survived by his wife Faith Zoldy, sons Derek Zoldy(Casey), Daren Zoldy (Kim) and Greg Zoldy (Carole Zoldy), 8 loving grandchildren John Zoldy (Heather Zoldy), Jacob Zoldy, Alicia Zoldy, Emma Zoldy, Abby and Kaden, and his sister Marleen Holmes (Ron), nephew Steven Zoldy (Tong), Jason, and Geraldine.

Allen was born in Fort William (Thunder Bay), Ontario to Alexander and Martha on January 20, 1941. He went to high school at Fort William Collegiate. He went on to earn a degree in Engineering from Lakehead University. He met married, Faith, the love of his life in 1963 while working for Ontario Hydro in Little Long Rapids. He worked for over 35 years with Ontario Hydro at various projects until his retirement from Darlington Nuclear plant in 1993. Al enjoyed various outdoor activities, camping, spending time with family and using his gifts and talents as a mechanic, machinist, welder, craftsman, carpenter and ultimately he put all his skills and imagination into building his dream home built to specs of a master. He was highly involved with Lutheran Church ministries, especially with his home congregation at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cobourg.
