All my early adventures in the country seemed to involve Ross. Like the time cows were running amuck on the road and I had to wake Ross up to deal with them. “Where’s Doreen?” he asked. And the time a fire was raging in the ditch in front of Shari’s house, and no one answered the door. So I went to retrieve Ross, of course. I knew he'd deal with it. His first words: “Where’s Sherry?” Every year, I bought Cortland apples from Ross and he and I had a long chat. I miss those casual chats and adventures. My condolences to Doreen and family.
