Obituary of Iva Margaret Millson
Iva Margaret Millson
With her family by her side, Iva Margaret Millson (nee Burley) passed away peacefully on Saturday March 9, 2024. Born on August 20, 1927 in Castleton, Ontario to Arthur and Margaret Burley. Iva attended Port Hope High School and played in the Salvation Army Band. She married Floyd Millson with whom she shared 68 years of marriage and 3 children. Together they managed a farm in Hope Township. On the farm, Iva successfully managed a raspberry operation and provided cedar greenery to local florists, as well as many other side enterprises to contribute to the family. Her faith was very important to her and she served in various roles in the church over the years.
In their retirement they enjoyed summers spent camping and fishing, and winters in Florida on the golf course and shuffle court. She was happiest outdoors, whether it be in the garden, working implements in the fields, riding her bike, or bird watching. She was a talented handicrafter, a gifted baker, and enjoyed challenging puzzles. She will be remembered for her love for her family and the support she provided to her boys in making their dreams and endeavours come to light.
Iva was most proud of her family. She is survived by her three children, Doug (Holly), Ross (Joy) and Wayne (Lana); grandchildren Chris, Scott (Lois), Stephanie Gasko (Paul), Lisa Cardwell (Rob), James and Joshua; and great-grandchildren Lydia, Abby, Rhys, Maeve, Nola, Mitchell, Tyson and Eve.
Iva was predeceased by her husband, Floyd, in 2016. She is also predeceased by her daughter-in-law Shirley, grandson Benjamin, and her siblings Edward (Betty), Clarence (Grace) and Lillie Hall (Joe).
For the last eight years, Iva was under the excellent care of the staff of Extendicare Port Hope.
