Obituary of Anne Jeanette Smart
Smart, Anne Jeanette Sinclair
Passed away in hospital Thursday March 28th, 2024. Anne was the beloved wife of Robert Smart and dear mother of David Smart (Trish), Elizabeth Smart (Dave) and Victoria Smart Mercer (Ted). She adored her four rambunctious grandboys, Wes Disi, Hugh, James and Piers Mercer. She was the first born of a Canadian Regimental Sergeant Major (Duncan) and British nurse (Vera), who met in London during the war. She was famously (in family circles) held as an infant by Winston Churchill on the steps of the Bank of England. She loved giving unsolicited advice to unsuspecting mothers in grocery line ups, and her teacher genes helped her to gently manage the most unruly of children. She always said her most difficult pupil was her husband Robert. Sister of Elaine Carlyle (Roy), Donalda Sinclair, Warren Sinclair (Colleen) and the deceased Caroll McRorie (Grant) and Beteena Sinclair. Also, predeceased by her cousin Mary Sheppard. The family wishes to thank their most helpful neighbours, the caring fellow parishioners at St Paul's Anglican Church, Perrytown, and the conscientious staff of Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Private arrangements to follow.
