I will forever miss Joe's antics and laughs! I was so very saddened to read of his passing. I LOVED serving Joe and Sandy at the Railside for years at their regular table! We loved catching up and he always had to ask how my "ass" was doing (my Donkey) and he always had some funny remarks up his sleeve. We always joked that his last name should be Smith.. since it was easier to say. Sending all my love and support and condolences to his family and friends. We lost a good one.

Hello
This is Ken and Lorraine Hamman. Joe and Ken have known each other for over 30 years. They met when Joe was working at Rollins. However in the past 7 years or so had rekindled their friendship through myself and Peggy who have been life long childhood friends. Now Joe has a few more friends up here such as Harald and Lorraine Brechtefeld.
Both Joe & Peggy have taken long journeys up to NWO where we live as we to have traveled their way to.
Peggy I'm so very deeply saddened that you have lost Joe. I know you were his beloved. And we're with him along with Gord and Diane right till the end.
Diane and Gord and families you had an amazing individual within Joe. He was truly the life of any gathering we ever had. Our times together often included going out to Breakfast. They both came to Ken's suprise 70th birthday party and were hoping to make it up here for Ken's 75th this past fall. Both he and Peggy as well as us always had an open door policy and shared many visits. We weren't able to travel down before his passing due to some health issues that have had us homebound since last fall.
Joe made himself at home wherever he was. His quick whit and toung could have everyone in stitches or shock depending on what came out. He never held back. He lived life to the fullest.
Joe took the time and patience with me on one of his visits to Vermilion to share and teach me his Bannock recipe. I will cherish this and have already made it in his honor and he will be remembered in our home every time it is made.
Joe I sure hope we will meet again in the afterlife. May you rest in peace.
I do hope you will reach ut and let us know the plands for Joe's final internment as we would like to attend.
Take care of one another that's all Joe would want.

To Joe's family I send mycondolences. Joe was the master at the pranks he would play on people. My late husband Randy worked with Joe for many years at Transx and was the recipient of many pranks played like bumpers turned backwards air lines hooked up opposite way and the Sheep story lol.Joe also did me the honor of being one of Randy's pallbearers. You will be missed Joe and heaven has gained a special person. You are a legend rest easy Joe!

Rip my dear brother. Many good memories you left us with. Every time I hear the song “I’ve been everywhere “ I think of you. The big Indian that crossed the country so many times and made so many friends. If a book was written about Joe it would be as thick as the holy bible. So many stories of his life. I was glad to have spend the time with him before he passed. I hope the good lord has the perfect 18 wheeler ready for you. He just called home the greatest truck driver and a man with the greatest sense of humour. Till we meet again.
Much love from George and family

So many memories of Joe. Stuff he pulled off over the years. Truly a book as thick as the bible could’ve be written about Joe. The song “I’ve been everywhere” was meant for him. As I use to say to him, you must have worn out a few pairs of moccasins with all the miles you travelled. Didn’t see much of him when he was trucking across Canada and USA. Missed some good brotherly quality time. Was glad to spend his last few days with him. He hung on till I got there.
Well bro hope the good lord has a eighteen wheeler waiting for you. As a trucker you were the best of them.
Rest in peace and with the grace of god I truly hope we will meet again. Hope this time your a little easier on your friends with the joke and tricks. Send us much needed prayers. God bless your soul.
Love Brother George and family.
