Dear Robert, Lawrence and Janet. So sorry for the loss of your Mom. We have so many fond memories of your parents, and will be forever grateful for their support to us in so many ways. When we newly arrived in Canada a young married couple of 24 and 21 they both opened their home and hearts, and were fabulous role models for us. They assisted us in so many ways ~ a wonderful couple to whom we were deeply attached. Our deepest condolences to the whole family. Reg and Lesley

Robert (“Bob”), Janet and Lawrence (“Larry”), and your extended families and close friends; I want to express my sincere condolences to all of you as to the loss of Shirley. I want to go back to the 1970’s when you were all growing up. We were all young teenagers and your mother, “Mrs. Fishlock”, always to me and the group of friends who hung out with Bob, was a respected institution in our Etobicoke neighbourhood. Your mother kept a rather keen eye on Bob’s suspicious group, typically local Boy Scouts, who experimented with harmless pranks and experiences as we grew up. Mrs. Fishlock always had a gleeful eye as she observed our behaviours and welcomed us into the family home. We were so sure that our secret passage into the basement was unknown to her, only later to realize that Mrs. Fishlock always knew what we were up to, ensured that responsible limits were being followed and then secretly may have even rejoiced in our energy as we discovered innocent life challenges some of which she may have traversed herself as a younger woman.
Mrs. Fishlock was always respected by our group and we enjoyed her company. She was an interesting, strong and thought provoking adult in our adolescent years. She was a worthy balance to Percy and an important influence for the family household. We will all miss her and be thankful of the long life she shared with us. Family and friends are blessed to have had such an outstanding and warm person present in our lives. Barry Horosko
