It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Harold McCurdy on December 9, 2024, in Cobourg, Ontario, at the age of 94.

Beloved husband of Yvonne McCurdy (nee Ross) for 70 years, Ron was a loving father to Douglas (Carmen), Cindy Deming (Mike), and Kathleen Watterson (Greg). He was a proud grandfather to Jazzmin, Sean, Emily, Connor, and Claire, and a cherished great-grandfather to Kyra, Benjamin, and Finnegan.

Ron was a talented artist and designer. He enjoyed working with a variety of mediums from acrylic paints to experimental plastics. He loved his work and readily shared his passion and knowledge for the visual arts during the 25+ years spent as a teacher at Ontario College of Art (now known as OCAD) in Toronto. He also did freelance work for many well known brands, designing iconic product packages that are recognizable still to this day.

Outside of his work, he was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed spending time in his workshop, painting beautiful landscapes, and doing custom work on classic cars and vintage boats.

A visitation will be held at Allison Funeral Home in Port Hope on Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 1-4pm. There will be no formal funeral service.
