Obituary of William Byron Lawson

Lawson, William Byron. March 28, 1923 - December 17, 2012 - Passed away peacefully at Northumberland Hills Hospital surrounded by his devoted family. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years Beverley and four children Dixon (Alice), Geoffrey (Robin), Susan Luyendyk (Erik) and Wendy Curtis (Dean Pepper) as well as his 12 grandchildren Dixon, Hilary (Philippe), Whitney, Erica (Lawson), Billy, Mathew, Andrew, Lauren (Lawson), Mason, Bennett, Jessica and Rachel (Curtis). He was pre-deceased by his parents Jane Isabelle (nee Green) and Harry Otter Lawson, and his sisters Flora and Pansy. Bill was born in Kingston and lived his youth in various cities both domestic and abroad. After proudly serving Canada during WWII he established a distinguished career in the developing consumer credit field. Bill joined the Bank of Nova Scotia's Toronto headquarters in 1958 and rose to a senior executive position where he held global responsibility for developing innovative policies and programs intended to provide household credit across Canada and throughout the Caribbean. Bill was a gentleman who lived his life with honesty, integrity, duty and character. A dedicated father he was decided and exacting in his demeanor and perspectives. If desired, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Northumberland Hills Hospital where Bill received exceptional and compassionate care from the nursing and medical staff during his final days. Thursday 7-9 pm. Allison Funeral Home Port Hope ON DIRECTIONS: FROM HWY 401 Exit at County Rd. 28, Ontario St. (exit 464). Follow Ontario St. south into Port Hope. The funeral home is located at the juncture of Ontario St., Young St. and Mill St. N. on the east (left) side of Mill St. N. The parking lot (behind the building) can be accessed either from Young St. or Mill St. N.
