I had the honor of being Norma’s neighbor for the last 25 years she lived in their house. She enjoyed calling me “Peter Behind”. We had great conversations on politics, religion, schools, and other topics and shared many laughs. Charlie was a wonderful human and we also had discussions that meant so much to me, and he helped so much during times we had wind damage and other problems. I so sorely miss both Norma and Charlie Wallace and trust that they are happily residing together in Heaven. My sincerest condolences to both their daughters, their husbands, and families.

Norma was such a wonderful woman. She was an inspiration to me and no doubt to all who knew her. In the few years I knew and worked for her, she brightened my life more than she ever knew. She will be a beam of sunshine in heaven. My thoughts are with you.

I had the honour of knowing Norma for over 20 years. Her generosity exceeded that of anyone I have ever known not only in abundance but in selflessness.
Norma's drive toward the common good often found itself propelled by the current events of the day. It was a common sight to drive past her house and see her numerous lawn signs colourfully shouting support for one cause or perhaps, more often than not, speaking out against another. I had always thought that she did this not for herself or her generation, but for the people she knew she would leave behind one day. Thank you for that, Norma.
I never had the opportunity to meet Norma's husband Charlie personally. However, by knowing Norma, I did learn a great thing about him. He had great taste and nowhere was that more evident than in the wife he chose. He clearly lived the adage, "never settle for second best" and, he didn't.
Thank you Norma for your generosity, your wit, your honest opinion, your good humour and your insatiable curiousity. The world is clearly better off by having had you in it. We all have, a tough act to follow.

Dear Ellen and Susan
We are very sorry to hear of the loss of your mom.
I called her Mrs. Wallace (Jerry called her Norma) until some time after I had children of my own...then, of course it was Norma for me as well... which made more sense at that time because we always called your dad Charlie because Jerry knew him from Nicholson File.
We know that you're sad and hurting today but your precious memories and each other will get you through. Our memories of your parents are stored in our hearts forever. Your mom would get out the blackboard (grade 6 was it) to help me understand a new concept or two in math (or was it called arithmetic then). I remember every inch of your house, and the outdoor plants that she would bring in each fall to winterize and take back out in the summer. We remember and miss your dad too and the great chats we had over his tasty wine-making with the use of our wild grapes.
We are very sorry that we will not be able to pay our respects in person since we have a previous commitment but our thoughts are indeed with you. Sincerely Jerry and Kathy.

Dear Susan and Ellen
My sincere sympathy to you and your families.
Your mother was a wonderful lady, and a great teacher. I have many fond memories of her. To me, she was always "Mrs. Wallace", but once I knew her as an adult, she insisted that I call her Norma. This was difficult for me, but "I did as she told me".

Hi Susan and Ellen
Our condolences.
I have fond memories of your Mom from childhood. One that comes to mind is remembering when she supplied in a primary class at Central School that I was to call her Mrs Wallace as she was “Aunt Norma “to me.
Glad to see her again in the recent past months when I visited Hope Terrace.
Peter knew her from Willow Beach and enjoyed getting the Curlew Newsletters. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Marion and Peter

Our condolences to Norma's family.
I had many enjoyable chats with Norma over the years when she lived on Young St. and we settled many of Port Hope's political problems in the process, at least we thought so.
A very nice lady and I am sure you have many good memories of her.
