Hello: Many years ago, Betty hired me as a new nursing grad (1980) from Western. I was so appreciative of the opportunity and the trust she placed in me. I know now that she surrounded me with mentors and I learned so much. She was a wonderful role model for nurses. I have since had an amazing career in health care, but will always be grateful to her for launching my career and for her role in creating a supportive learning environment.
My belated condolences,
Gail Kaufman (Carlin)

Cyndi, It was a privilege to work with your mom. She took a chance in hiring me into a part time position. This was unheard of in Public Health at that time, but she knew that was all I was willing to do. Later she was supportive of me as we worked to create a job sharing position. She was a very special lady and I know you will miss her terribly. I do hope the wonderful memories you must have of her will bring you peace. Vickie Lewis

I have so many cherished memories of time spent with both your mother and father in your beautiful home on Bruton Street as a teen and young adult. Your mother truly made me feel like she had another daughter. For that I will be forever greatful. She was a leader wherever she went and shared her talents with the entire community. Sincere condolences to you Cyndi, Mark, and your family members.

I was sorry to hear of the passing of your dear mother, grandmother. I always enjoyed her visits downtown. She would always talk with such pride of her family. For me personally, she has left me with the legacy that being a strong woman is not such a bad thing, and it is alright to not apologize for speaking up for what you believe in.
