Remember Bob well - he hired me at GMAC in May of 1970 after college graduation and was a mentor to me and many other fledgling employees for many years. Known simply as R J to his staff at the time, his inherent business acumen and leadership skills were recognized by all. I also recall him being a frugal type back then - he could make one teabag last for multiple cups !

We are so sorry to hear of Robert’s passing. We always enjoyed our get togethers - dinner and euchre. Bob will miss his breakfast outings with him. Robert was such a gentleman with a great sense of humour and an infectious laugh. We will miss him greatly. June and Bob Gibson

Dear Barb, such sad and sudden bad news. Marion and I both send our regrets and sympathy to you. Robert was a pleasant friend - in Probus, of course, but more so in some of our more informal and relaxed moments. I regret that he was unable to teach us how to play euchre but he made up for it at men’s lunch when he tried so hard - with that large significant voice - to have us discuss something important. (He never succeeded). His friendly manner was infectious and his leadership style was admired by all of us. A strong remembrance for us early one morning was our walk in the park in Cobourg and who we do we meet sitting passively on a park bench, carefully reading the Globe and Mail, but Robert. We had a pleasant morning chat that day on topical political events - so like him. He liked to make a big mark - like that very red Cadillac. We will carry his memory for a long time and he will be missed. Marion and Doug

Dear Barbara:
I am so sorry to hear of Robert’s passing. I enjoyed being a fellow Probus member with you and Robert. He was the perfect member as he really enjoyed the visiting opportunity of the club. He was willing to work, speak, and and especially enjoyed visiting the ‘lunch’ table! My condolences to you and your family. Enjoy the many good memories you will have. May Robert RIP.
