Obituary of Robert Struthers

Struthers, Robert (Bob) Passed away peacefully on Saturday May 8, 2021, at the age of 90, in Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg, Ontario. Born in Toronto to the late Marion and Douglas Struthers. He was pre-deceased in 2009 by his beloved son Michael of Melbourne, Florida and his wife Monique in 1998. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Barbara (Lynn), his sister Margaret Rout of Mississauga, his brother-in-law Charles de Jocas and family in Montreal. Loving stepfather and mentor to Chris Lynn (Katie Griffin) in Sechelt, BC, and Jordan Lynn (Jessica Bongard) in Toronto. Brother-in-law to Michael (Diane) in Toronto. Friend (68 years) of Jim Wilson of Niagara-on-the-Lake. No service due to current circumstances. Cremation has taken place. Robert spent many happy summers while growing up on Lake Muskoka at the cottage that his Mother built. A gathering of family and friends will be held in the future. After their wedding in 1999, Robert and Barbara moved from Ottawa to Victoria, BC, in 2000. They were members of the Union Club and the Uplands Probus Club while in Victoria. Their lives were enriched by the friends they made while there. In 2011 they decided to "come back home" to Ontario and settled in Port Hope. They travelled to China, Mexico, Florida and their favourite place – France. In particular Provence, where they explored by car, then finished several trips by staying in Antibes. The joined the Port Hope Probus Club, Robert served as Treasurer for 2 years. He enjoyed playing bridge, euchre and various lunch and dinner groups. Thank you to all of his breakfast and lunch friends, he enjoyed the camaraderie of these times. In early 2020 Robert decided to move to Roseglen Retirement Village. He loved his apartment there and it was very convenient for Barbara to visit from their home. He was well liked and known for his friendly manner (everything was made more difficult when Covid restricted their lives). We thank the nurses and doctors at NHH for their kindness and compassion at this difficult time. Remembrance may be made in Robert's name to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation, Cobourg, Ontario. www.allisonfuneralhome.com
