Alex was a great supporter of myself and the London Aquatic Club and I will always be grateful of his contributions. He continued his support by helping run meets for me when I moved to Western, thank you for making those possible. Condolences to Linda, Brad, and Heather from the Midgley family.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Alex. Alex was a great volunteer in the swimming world!!
Alex’s laugh was contagious, his wit and wisdom was always appreciated and his experience valued.
Alex, reminded us that volunteering for the kids was fun and not to take ourselves too serious. Alex was always ready to ramp up the fun meter at every swim meet!! I am thankful to have had Alex as my mentor and friend. Thank you so much for sharing him with his swimming friends. My deepest condolensces to Linda, Brad, and Heather.

Dave and I were so shocked and saddened to hear the news that Alex is no longer with us. He was the eldest of the vd Kam cousins and we all looked up to and loved him. He was so full of fun, great stories and was up for anything! I can remember when he stayed with us in the UK a few years ago - he and Dave and Heather did a midnight flit to collect some abandoned pieces of turf they had spotted which would be ideal for our garden. And next minute we were all driving up to the North Downs to lie on our backs and watch for shooting stars. He loved driving in the UK and always managed to find himself on the narrowest of roads, despite having hired the largest of vehicles. We had to keep a tin of touch up paint whenever he and Linda were in town! We are so glad we were able to have a family reunion in 2019 (pics below) and send our love to Linda, Heather, Bradley and Alex's grandchildren as well as Robert, Carolyn and Mark and the wider family at this time. We will miss him. Sue and Dave xx

As Alex’ friends at Thames Valley Trail Association we extend our deep sympathy. Though our experience of this shocking loss can be only a shadow of what you must be feeling, we want to share what we can.
Alex was a warm and welcoming face for new members to the club, a stable and reassuring presence to those of us on the Board. With him as our President we felt in such good hands as he steered us through situations that save for his calm wisdom might have gone less well.
On the trail, people remember him as engaged and happy. He would encourage hike leaders to share their knowledge with the group, for instance, talking about the Meeting Tree in Westminster Ponds. Maybe this was the teacher in him.
We hope for you, his family, that knowing others experienced some of his kindness and reassurance will help in some small way.
We will remember him.
Board of Directors, Thames Valley Trail Association

Alex was a dedicated father to Brad and Heather and supported their swimming and Linda’s coaching with enthusiasm. Swim Canada benefitted from his commitment of time and expertise as an official. We knew Alex through the swim world yet knew he was a loved teacher and principal and friend to many. Linda, Heather, Brad and partners we send our deep sympathies for your loss. Brenda and Paul Atkison

I am very saddened to hear of Alex’s passing. He was my brother in law for 25 years and I loved him like a brother. He was always upbeat and positive at all the family gatherings. As people have mentioned, he had a devilish grin and a twinkle in his eye as he poked fun at those around him. He was full of love and lived his life with conviction and courage. He never let his challenges or limitations stand in the way of what he wanted to do or accomplish. I will miss you my friend. Know you are loved. ❤️

So long old friend
I wish we had kept in touch these past many years
I will always remember Alex as a fun loving and mischievous young man, always happy and always ready for the next wild adventure. We were good friends in our misspent youth both in terrace bay and at waterloo
I will fondly remember those good times
From reading the tributes about his life, he and Linda and family had a wonderful life. So sorry to learn of his passing

So sorry to hear of Alex’s passing. Alex was one of my first administrators when I started teaching 20 + years ago. Boy did we have fun! I will never forget the support he gave me both in education and in my personal life. He was always up for a quick chat in his office and after retirement from a crazy group of teachers who just wanted to FaceTime him and say Hi! Linda and family we are all thinking of you.

There are no words to describe the emptiness that this loss has caused to all who loved Alex and that would be every person who ever had a chance to know Alex. But the loss to Linda, Heather, Brad and those beautiful grandchildren, who he loved so much, has to be beyond anything that they have ever dealt with. My heart is absolutely breaking.
