So sad to hear of Joan's passing. A neighbour and very kind lady I will fondly remember. How I enjoyed our many chit chats as she walked often by my home. Our last chat, the day of the Santa Claus Parade, we were talking about family and her love of the church especially at Christmas Time.

Joan's love for and pride in her family was always fierce. She was a shining example of a positive attitude and many
people admire her for her life of determination and struggle.
She will be remembered as a strong woman who loved her family and took an active part in their lives and in the Port Hope community. She was the light that brightened the room from the second she entered.
She will be dearly missed also for the many kindnesses she showed to many people who had the good fortune to know her.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.

Joan was a great next door neighbour for a number of years on Walton St in the 1970s along with Merv, Dale, Craig, Susan and as I recall "Pickles ". Mutual driveways can sometimes be difficult but there was never a problem ! Condolences to Ted and All of You

Deepest sympathies to Joan’s long time partner, her beloved Ted - he will be lost without her devotion. And also to her children and many family members everywhere. Joan was a large part of my life these last few years, attending Morning Prayer twice a week with me and faithfully bringing strength and cheer to me and all those she met. Joan modelled courage and joy in the face of many adversities. I will remember her steadfast faith in her Saviour and how she sought to bring the good news of the gospel to everyday encounters in the manner of St. Francis: “using words if necessary”.
“The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. Blessed is the Lord, our strength and our salvation.” Amen.

I am so sad to hear the passing of Joan. I knew the name, but couldn’t place her until I saw this wonderful picture. As a person who has M.S. and also someone that belongs to St, John’s Church, I will always remember her encouraging smile when our eyes would meet especially once my disease put my in a wheelchair. She has such a ready smile and fighting spirit. May she rest in peace

I am saddened by the news of Joan’s sudden passing. She was a warm, supportive member of the Port Hope Tuesday morning Ladies League where she loved to golf and to be involved in our social events. Joan was a good golfer who amazed us all by playing with only a few clubs.
RIP Joan. I will miss you and remember you for your bright spirit, your smile and sense of fun.

My condolences to Joan's family. I will certainly miss seeing her at the Jack Burger Pool and the Port Hope Golf Course. She always amazed me with her ability to play a round of golf with three or four clubs only, and not a putter in her bag. And she still scored not too badly!! Joan was always willing to stop and have a chat about all and everything. Rest in peace, Joan.
